VLC media player 是一套屬於 Open Source 的影音播放軟體，它能播放的類型，包山包海，像是 DVD、音樂CD、VCD 及串流媒體。 它除了提供跨作業系統平台的版本之外，也無視 DVD 區碼限制，另外還能讓使用者自訂操作面版，是一套有強大功能和極高彈性的播放軟體。

  • 影像方面支援 MPEG-1/2, DIVX1/2/3, MPEG-4 ASP, DivX, Xvid, 3ivX D4, WMV1/2/3, WMV-9, VC-1, Real Video,Quicktime等多種格數。
  • 音樂方面支援 MP3/4, E-AC-3, AC3-A/52, DTS, WMA1/2, Real Audio等。
  • 可自訂面版上想要的功能和功能圖示位置。
  • 提供多種作系統版本，包括 Windows, Linux, Mac, Unix 等。
