The app has built-in support for FTP connections as well as integrations with many popular cloud hosting services, enabling remote storage destinations of Google Drive, One Drive, and iCloud to become integrated into a single file management environment. The app also has streamlined support for tabs, which can not only dramatically speed up file management but can also help remove a large amount of clutter from desktop surfaces.
It also has integrated support for keyboard shortcuts, enhanced file preview (with not only metadata surfacing, but also the ability to actively preview photos and even playback video files!), full integration of tags that can be used to mark files and folders, and much more. All in all, Files App represents a dramatic expansion of capabilities found in File Explorer -the default file management app found in all modern versions of Windows OS (Windows 10 and 11).
