Permadelete is an open source file shredding app for the Windows platform that is able to delete your files beyond recovery. The app has been designed to be beautiful, reliable and fast.

Key Features include:

• Send to Permadelete: a shortcut of Permadelete in the "Send To" folder of Windows.
• Dragging and dropping over the app icon/shortcut: the Permadelete icon/shortcut can be used as a Recycle Bin; just drop files over it.
• Drag and drop files over the Main Window: you can also drag and drop files from windows explorer onto the main window.

Usually, when a file is deleted, only a reference to the location of the file is deleted. In other words, the file system just forgets about the existence of the file. But the actual data, the 0s and 1s, still remain on the disk.

Eventually this data will be replaced by other files and data, but this can take a long time, and during this time recovery software can be used to recover the deleted files. This is where Permadelete comes into play. Permadelete makes sure the files you delete cant be recovered…ever!
